Mr. Charles Wilburn Cooley, 89, of Newnan, died at Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.

He was born in Heard County to the late Charles Hoyt Cooley and Camilla Street Cooley. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Caroline Cooley; brother, Winston Cooley; sisters, Lillian Cooley Sisson and Gladys Cooley Nelms.

Mr. Cooley served in the U.S. Air Force and then for 24 years was in airplane maintenance at Delta Airlines.  He loved Mills Chapel Baptist Church congregation and was part of the men's group.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Whitaker Cooley; sons, Michael Cooley of Newnan and Ronald Faulk (Kriss) of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; sister, Rebecca McGhee of Hogansville; grandson, Will Cooley; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Thursday, 6-7 p.m.
