The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Atlanta Fitness Express, 19 Millard Farmer Industrial Blvd., Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Beijing Chinese Restaurant, 2005 Highway 16, was inspected on Dec. 8, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: bowl stored in rice, rice spoon stored in room-temperature water, wet stacked containers.

BodyPlex Newnan, 60 Thomas Grace Annex, Sharpsburg - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Cafe Aloha, 775 Poplar Road, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: single-use cups stored uncovered. Keep plastic sleeves up on cups to prevent contamination.

Canongate Golf Club, 924 Shaw Road, Sharpsburg - was inspected on Dec. 6, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: food buildup on several gaskets and shelving.

Casa Burger, 98 Jackson St., Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 6, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: no proper sanitizer strips present.

Chin Chin Chinese Restaurant, 1111 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 8, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: buildup on hood filters.


Dairy Queen, 61 Jefferson St., Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: cups stored uncovered, food buildup on shelves.

D’Anthony’s Grill & Bar, 89 Herring Road, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 2, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: need quaternary ammonia sanitizer test strips, sanitizer too strong in wiping cloths.

Frank’s Family Restaurant, 1188 Collinsworth Road, Palmetto - was inspected on Dec. 7, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: particles on knife holder.

Georgia Station 14, 232 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Newnan High Ninth Grade Academy, 190 LaGrange St., Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: residue left on slicer.

Olive Garden, 212 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: food particles on slicer, knives, spoon, lip of pan.

Pita by The Beirut, 326 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 5, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Texas Roadhouse, 1127 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 7, 2016 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: dried food particles in slicers.

Waffle House, 229 Temple Ave., Newnan - was inspected on Dec. 8, 2016 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: water is not reaching 180 F for proper sanitization, gauges not working.

Wendy’s, 2840 E Highway 34, Sharpsburg - was inspected on Dec. 6, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.
