The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Atkinson School Cafeteria, 14 Nimmons St., was inspected on October 31, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Arnco Sargent School Cafeteria, 2449 Highway 16 W, was inspected on October 28, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Brooks Elementary, 35 Genesee Point, was inspected on October 31, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

El Charro Mexican Restaurant, 77 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on November 1, 2016 and received a score of 95–A. Inspector’s comments: Stickers left on stacked dishes, back door left open.

El Ranchero, 211 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on October 31, 2016 and received a score of 81-B. Inspector’s comments: No certified food safety manager, food particles found on clean dishes, cracked floor tile, rusted shelves.

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant, 222 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on November 3, 2016 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: Dried food particles on slicer, labels left on clean pans, wet-stacked pans, split gasket on walk-in cooler door, gasket hanging from bottom of lift top cooler door, no hot water in restrooms.

Madras Middle School Cafeteria, 240 Edgeworth Road, was inspected on November 1, 2016 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Lettuce and tomatoes 54.5 degrees F, 50.4 degrees F cooling on ice on serving line, ice needs to be on all sides of cooler and placed down in ice.

Northgate High School, 3220 Fischer Road, was inspected on November 1, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Northside Elementary School Cafeteria, 720 Country Club Road, was inspected on November 1, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100–A.

Red Robin, 202 Newnan Crossing, was inspected on October 31, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Star Deli, 165 Temple Ave., was inspected on November 1, 2016 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Bulk food items not labeled, fish and hamburger thawed on table top, stained ceiling tiles, rusted racks.
