The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Cold Stone Creamery, 234 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on October 25, 2016 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: cups stored uncovered. Bathroom found without paper towels.

Culver’s, 311 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on October 24, 2016 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Thawing raspberries in stagnant water.

Green Demon at Arbor Springs, 300 Arbor Springs Parkway, was inspected on October 27, 2016 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Racks in cooler observed rusted with food buildup.

Longhorn Steakhouse, 1112 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on October 25, 2016 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Washed dishes found with food particles on them. Equipment throughout kitchen found with grease buildup on legs and sides. Staff personal clothing left in kitchen.

Newnan Country Club, 1356 N Highway 29, was inspected on October 27, 2016, and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Racks in cooler found with food buildup. Ceiling tiles stained with grease. One tile found absent. Cracked floor tiles need regrouting.

Pollo Tropical, 580 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on October 24, 2016, and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Fresh salsa 59 degrees F, and other sauces held on self service sauce bar 52 degrees F, ambient temperature of cooler 56.9 degrees F. Foods moved to walk-in cooler during inspection.

Redneck Gourmet Cafe, 11 E Court Square, was inspected on October 25, 2016, and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Stove, hot press, and fryers observed with buildup. Storage racks observed with buildup. Consider replacing or repainting.

Rednexican, 2 E Court Square, was inspected on October 25, 2016, and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Shun’s Wingyard, 101 Greison Trail, was inspected on October 21, 2016, and received a score of 97-A. Inspector's comments: Employee blew in gloves before putting on gloves.

Something Special at Lilian Gardens, 83 Greenville St., was inspected on October 21, 2016, and received a perfect score of 100-A.

Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint, 371 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on October 24, 2016, and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Dried food particles in slicer.
