The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Alamo Jacks / Fabiano's, 19 W Court Square, was inspected on September 23, 2016 and received a score of 86–B. Inspector’s comments: Raw shell eggs stacked above ready to eat foods, drink nozzles found with mold build up, grease build up on ceilings and walls, rust and food build up on shelves.

Burger King, 415 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on September 23, 2016 and received a score of 95–A. Inspector’s comments: Old labels on clean stacked dishes, build up on oven racks.

Five Guys, 244 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on September 27, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100.

Golden Corral, 605 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on September 23, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100.

Hooters, 1001 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected on September 27, 2016 and received a score of 94–A. Inspector’s comments: dishes stacked with old label residue still present, cracking ceiling/floor tiles, build up on ceilings, rusted shelves.

Huddle House, 1432 S Hwy 29, was inspected on September 26, 2016 and received a score of 90–A. Inspector’s comments: can opening found with food build up, several coolers found without thermometers present, mold build up on ice machine, food build up in gaskets on front coolers, tiles need regretting, rusty shelves with food build up.

Jefferson Parkway Elementary School, 154 Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard, was inspected on September 27, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100.

Jimmy Johns, 51 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on September 27, 2016 and received a perfect score of 100.

Lee Middle School Cafeteria, 370 Willis Road, was inspected on September 26, 2016, and received a perfect score of 100.

Shane’s Rib Shack, 55 Newnan Crossing Bypass, was inspected on September 27, 2016 and received a score of 96–A. Inspector’s comments: Cooling food placed in a sealed environment, leave ventilation to allow for proper cooling and prevent bacterial growth, rusted stands observed in kitchen.

The Half Shell Oyster Bar, 1690 Hwy 34, was inspected on September 23, 2016 and received a score of 93–A. Inspector’s comments: Mold on defector of ice machine, utensils stores handle down, dirty and rusted shelves in coolers observed.

Waffle House, 1030 E Hwy 34, was inspected on September 27, 2016 and received a score of 95–A. Inspector’s comments: thermometer absent in reach in coolers, condensation leak in reach in cooler, rusted shelves present with build up, gaskets found with food build up present.
