SBA accepting 2017 National Small Business Week Awards nominations

The U.S. Small Business Administration is now accepting nominations for its 2017 National Small Business Week Awards, including the annual Small Business Person of the Year. Since 1963, National Small Business Week has recognized the outstanding achievements of America’s small businesses for their contributions to their local communities, and to our nation’s economy.

Local fitness trainer earns best employee award

Deanna Smith, who works for GYMGUYZ, Peachtree City's in-home personal training company, was recently named the best employee in the entire 70-territory GYMGUYZ system for her dedicated work and experience as a personal trainer in Fayette and Coweta Counties.

Smith comes from a background in health and fitness. She owned and operated her own gym at 24 years old, which emphasized women's health. She started with GYMGUYZ when owner Aaron Anthonsen first opened the business in January 2015. She was initially hired as a trainer, but recently became head trainer for the team.

Job fair to be held Tuesday, Oct. 11

The Newnan Job Networking Group, Georgia Department of Labor, Goodwill and the Newnan-PTC Employer Committee have partnered to have a 2016 Fall Job Fair at the Newnan First United Methodist Church Parish Hall on Greenville Street in downtown Newnan on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 4 until 7 p.m. The job fair will be focused on helping job seekers looking for either part-time, seasonal work or full-time jobs.
